While golf course #1 is not as difficult as the famed course #2, where the men's U.S. open has been twice held, the Number 1 course appears simpler than it actually is. Pinehurst Director of Golf Matt Massei once said "I challenge anyone to play to their handicap on Number 1 the first time out. It's not as easy as it looks."
